Diving Destinations

Bida Island: Koh Bida Noi and Koh Bida Nok

Live-aboard Diving: luxury liveaboard dive cruise on MY Viking

Depth 10 to 28 meters

These islands are located south of Phi-Phi Lee and rises almost vertically from the sea! The two islands are among our most popular dive spots. The most colorful corals are found at 10 to 20 m depth, but the reef continues down to 28 to 30 m. This is an area of hard coral, with a magnificent landscape of Gorgonian Sea fans and thousands of curious fish. Octopus thrives at the rocky bottom where the concentration of corals are highest, so keep your eyes open - they are hard to spot! At the bottom we also find the Leopard sharks (Zebra sharks) resting and even sleeping; remember - look but don't touch - and everybody will have a chance to spend time with these peaceful creatures! . If you are very lucky you may even get to experience one of the greatest moments in your life as a diver; swimming with a whale shark! The whale shark is attracted by the plankton rich waters between the two Bida Islands and will typically be seen at 8 to 10 m depth.

Maya Bay, Phi Phi Lee

Depth 10 to 24 meters

This is the bay where you will find "The Beach"! Incredible beautiful landscape and a beach you have to see to believe it. The bay is surrounded by steep limestone rocks that rises vertically out of the water. The bay in itself offers coral reefs with an abundance of tropical fish, a paradise for snorklers. To one side, Maya Bay offers steep wall diving and small caves open for everyone to experience. On the other side we find a coral reef where we often meets turtles casually swimming around us and eating of the reef. Further into the dive the landscape changes into larger boulders with beautiful Gorgonian sea fans and soft corals in many colors. The powder white sand in the bay is well protected and offers perfect conditions for relaxing in between the dives and for snorkeling and swimming.

Koh Samah Bay

Live-aboard Diving: luxury liveaboard dive cruise on MY Viking

Depth 10 to 22 meters

The dive begins at the west side of the bay at approx. 9 m depth. We follow the wall down to approx. 18 meters, and at the end of the wall we find a large valley with soft corals and Gorgonian Sea fans. The valley is wide enough to swim through and the walls are covered with an abundance of plant and marine life. Especially Blue striped Angelfish and Butterfly fish are abundant here and also several species of nudibranch and small reef crabs may be found in the crevices.

Anemone Reef

Depth 5 to 28 meters

Anemone Reef is basically two rocks starting from approx. 5 meters below the surface and continuing to the bottom at approx. 30m. Beautiful soft corals spreads over these rocks together with an abundance of sea anemones which naturally named the site. Colours of red, purple and yellow blends together to produce very nice opportunities for macro photography. Countless little clown fish inhabits each their little sea anemone, and in the many crevices and small holes we find several species of Moray Eel. This site is also known for the many lion fish which can be seen swimming around in the open enjoying the slight current.

Shark Point

Depth 10 to 18 meters

This is one of the most popular diving destinations around Phuket. Most divers come here to experience the friendly and charming Leopard shark, which is typically found resting on the sandy bottom just of the reef. Shark Point also offers good macro photo opportunities since it offers some of the same underwater marine life and scenery as Anemone Reef.

King Cruiser Wreck

Depth 8 to 32 meters

Phukets newest diving attraction is the large passenger ship "King Cruiser" which sank in May 1997, not far from Shark Point and Anemone Reef. King Cruiser had a capacity of 1000 passengers and is a former car ferry. She is 85 meter in length and is now lying upright at a maximum depth of 32 m and the shallowest part around 8 meters. This makes her perfect for divers of all levels of experience. Since 1997, nature has begun to inhabit King Cruiser. Oysters and anemones has settled on the wreck and large schools of various reef fish and Golden Barracuda may be found. Numerous lion fish has also found a safe and protected home on the decks of King Cruiser.
